Deputies respond to accidents

Milam County Sheriff’s Department deputies responded to six accidents in the county during the past week.

That included Friday’s fatality crash between Rockdale and Milano which claimed the life of a 19-year-old Austin man (See page 1A).

Sheriff David Greene listed other calls during the past seven days as follows:

Apr. 16— Disabled vehicle, North of CR 238A; abandoned vehicle, CR 242; identity theft, CR 358, Gause area; sign down, FM 485 west; assist Rockdale Police Department, West Roberts, Rockdale; request to speak to chief deputy, CR 237; welfare check, TX 36 North; cat bite, Cameron area; criminal mischief, Gause area; 911 static, CR 305, Rockdale area; medical call, South US 77, Cameron area.

ROLLOVER—Two persons escaped serious injury in this one-vehicle rollover at 10:54 a.m. Thursday on US 79, east of Milano. State Trooper J. C. Brooks listed the driver as Ray Waits, 58, of Dripping Springs. Vehicle damage was termed extensive. Rockdale, Milano and Gause Volunteer Fire Departments also responded to the scene. There were also eight loose livestock calls during the week.
